Empty Nest

This weekend we begin the process of becoming empty nesters as parents. We are moving Rachel to Bloomington, Indiana to being her studies at Indiana University’s Luddy School for Informatics to work on a Masters of Library Science. In a few weeks, Emily will be starting her teaching position at Southern Wells Community Schools, although still living at home while we continue to search for a house for her.

I love this quote as it speaks so well to Angie and I’s heart as we parented our daughters.

“Give the ones you love wings to fly, roots to come back and reasons to stay.”

The Dalai Lama

We are so proud of our daughters and excited to see where life takes them as they take these first flights from home. We are here to provide them love and support, as well as provide them a place to come back to as they wish or need. Soon we will be talking the next steps, a new home for Emily and wedding for Rachel. Lots of planning ahead and so much joy.
