Do you like playing games? Do you enjoy cooking? Do you like to occasionally have more than just soda pop and potato chips as snacks for game night? In this new Monday blog series, game industry personalities will be sharing some of their favorite recipes for game night munchies. Welcome to Gaming Gastronomy! This week we acknowledge that not everyone enjoys cooking or baking. Sometimes the simple snacks and meals work best for us. Even I do not cook or bake homemade delectables each week. Some weeks, a plate of summer sausage, cheese, and crackers works great perhaps with a box of Girl Scout Cookies on the side (don’t try to convince me those cookies are not addictive). Popcorn and unique flavored chips are also a favorite of my game group.

As a little hiatus while I work with our next gaming chefs, enjoy some “anonymous” comments I received when I initially reached out to various publishers, designers, and freelancers with my blog idea. The names have been withheld to respect the quoted and to retain my friendships.

“Sorry TR! This is completely outside my comfort zone. My cooking for game night ends at opening a bag of pretzels.”

“This is where I fess up to us not really doing anything special food-wise for game night. These days, ours are mostly done over Skype or Hangouts. Even when I was at Uni, we pretty much stuck to sweeties & pop! Looking forward to seeing what culinary delights other people make for their groups, though ;)”

“I can’t really think of anything that I’d say I’d recommend especially, though nanaimo bars are delish :)”

“We typically have a soup (tomato, pumpkin, etc), bread, cheese, and wine with our game. ”

“I asked around and the group pretty much agreed that the Bitchin’ Sauce + Victory at Sea combo was our go-to. We’re not terribly creative beyond that in this department. Sorry—probably not what you were looking for. Good luck with the project.”

In the coming weeks, check back here on Mondays for more delectable recipes from personalities around the game industry.
