Do you like playing games? Do you enjoy cooking? Do you like to occasionally have more than just soda pop and potato chips as snacks for game night? In this Monday blog series, game industry personalities will be sharing some of their favorite recipes for game night munchies. Welcome to Gaming Gastronomy! This week our simple snacks come from Ambie Valdés of Board Game Blitz.

Ambie (BGG, Facebook, Twitter, Website, YouTube) is part of the host trio of Board Game Blitz, making short, concise game podcasts and instructional videos. Apart from Board Game Blitz, she enjoys singing and has made a bunch of board game song parodies on her personal YouTube channel. She has been playing games for as long as she can remember. After graduating college, she and her boyfriend (now husband) started building up a collection and getting more into the hobby together.

As Ambie and I chatted, we discussed how not everyone has time to prepare a recipe for game night. Here are Ambie’s thoughts.

I usually don’t cook snacks for game night. Instead, we usually have a variety of pre-made, gaming friendly snacks that are easy to eat while gaming (and then we eat dinner separately). Some of my favorite snacks are pretzels (especially the Kirkland Signature peanut butter pretzels), carrots with hummus, and fruit – apples, Asian pears, grapes, strawberries, or any other fruit that’s in season. For fruit that’s not bite sized, I like to cut it up and put it in a bowl to serve. If you’re worried about a mess, you can also provide forks or toothpicks to eat the fruit. But always be sure to check for allergies among your guests first!

In the coming weeks, check back here on Mondays for more delectable recipes from personalities around the game industry.
